The Shapton Glass Stone HR 7.35 Micron #2000 Grit belongs to the Glass Stone series, which features a revolutionary design combining layers of tempered glass to deliver exceptional usability in a slim package.

This series offers a wide range of stones to cater to diverse sharpening needs and achieve the desired finish for any blade. The 2000 grit Glass Stone is a medium grit stone suitable for edge maintenance of frequently used knives. It provides a great working edge for general-purpose cutting and facilitates minor polish beginning.

Contrary to the common perception of sharpening stones as large and heavy, Glass Stones are not only thin and light but also robust due to the bonding of tempered glass layers. This construction imparts strong resistance to cracking or sudden breakage caused by external shocks like being dropped, ensuring durability.

The abrasives in these glass stones exhibit exceptional uniformity, ensuring consistent abrasive performance from the first pass to the end of the stone's lifespan.

The Glass Stone series includes two types each of the 4000, 6000, and 8000 sharpening stones. The main difference lies in the abrasive agents used. Specifically, the Glass Stone series 50603, 50703, and 50803 are recommended for sharpening composite steel blades where steel has been forge-welded with another metal.

Each Glass Stone in the series is composed of a 5mm tempered glass backing plate bonded to a 5mm thick stone. Shapton sharpening Glass Stones are made with finely graded ceramic cutting media that requires less flattening and has a longer lifespan compared to most whetstones.
