Background
Dynamin 2 is a large GTPase protein that plays a crucial role in cellular processes such as endocytosis and cytokinesis. It is involved in the fission of membrane vesicles, helping to separate newly formed vesicles from the parent membrane during endocytosis. This protein is widely expressed in various tissues and is essential for maintaining cellular homeostasis. Mutations in the dynamin 2 gene have been associated with several diseases, including centronuclear myopathy, a disorder characterized by muscle weakness and abnormal muscle structure.
